Summer is waning, but fall isn’t quite here yet, as much as many wish it were. I heard on KLOVE just yesterday that Starbucks has already brought in their pumpkin spice latte—traditionally the specialty drink that heralds in the holidays. And it’s only August! Anyone besides me sick of the big push to commercialize the holiday season?
Since I completed my summer series a couple weeks ago, I’m kind of stuck in wait mode. Unlike Starbucks, I don’t want to launch the fall series when the temps are still ranging in the 90’s and there isn’t even the hint of autumn in the air. So what’s a girl to do?
Well, let me give you a little preview of what’s to come starting late September:
I will be offering (very) short video clips of me reading portions of my book that will be released next year. Just so you know, this is a huge stressor for me. I don’t even like having my picture taken, so to have a video? Not fun. I plan on having my super cute dog, Gracie, with me, so maybe the audience will focus on her rather than me!
Also, my main character, Tess, cannot cook. This normally wouldn’t be a big deal, except she owns a family restaurant. So, I’m going to post some recipes (some video recipes) of foods that you’ll want to try. And if you know anything about me, you know I’m kind of a health nut, so if I can give you a healthier (and still a tasty) version of a recipe, I’ll do that, too.
Fall decorating? I love it—not good at it, but I love it. So while I explore some ideas for decorating and even fall planting, I’m going to pass those on to you.
If you have suggestions, please feel free to share them. This is about y’all—not me.
Just to get you started, I ran across this great article —Ideas for an Outdoor Fall Party—It sounds pretty ambitious, but still lots of fun. I thought I’d pass it on. The author of this article lives in New Hampshire, where fall comes a little harder than for those of you in California, and yet, it’s been a running success for him and his wife for fifteen years. If it’s something you’d like to try then now is the time to start planning.

Hi Jen, had my first Pumpkin Spice Laute yesterday as the weather here has been chilly, in the mornings. It’s 50 and when I went on my deck this morning I needed a light hoodie. Also noticed everything was wet from the morning dew. Not ready for that yet but it’s suppose to warm up next week. No AC on in over a week. I’m loving it. Anxious to see your video so let me know when it comes out. Love you.

Well, I stand corrected LOL. While you’ve had a cool spell, we’ve had a warm spell. We had a wonderful summer storm yesterday afternoon. I love fall, but just don’t want the time we have to be rushed.
Love you, too!
