It is always a pleasure for me to meet unknown (to me) authors. This past month, I was blessed to meet KC Hart, who is as Southern as they come. I could have listened to her talk for hours. What is it about Southerners that make a person feel like their presence brings a little Mayberry into one’s heart? If you sign up for her newsletter, you’ll be gifted with one of her romance stories, and also get to know KC on a personal level.
I also interviewed Christiana Cattane, who was raised in Alaska and now lives in the “tropics” of Michigan. I had to laugh about that, since I’m such a baby about being cold. Read below about her novels. Dystopian Fantasy. I don’t generally highlight fantasy or sci-fi, because if I can’t picture myself living in a story, I can’t get into it. But I found her work to be intriguing, and I’m sure you will too!
KC Hart writes contemporary, small town, Southern fiction. Her Katy Cross Cozy Mystery Series is set in Skeeterville, Mississippi. Don’t y’all try finding it on a map because it doesn’t exist outside of her imagination. She has eight books in this one series starring home health nurse, Katy Cross turned amateur sleuth!
Her newest series (small town romance that touches your heart) is her Carson’s Bayou Series set in Louisiana. Book 5, Kid Smarts & Wistful Hearts just released this past March 15th. Previous books are Fresh Starts & Small Town Hearts, Business Smarts & Reckless Hearts, Car Smarts & Bashful Hearts, and People Smarts & Wounded Hearts.

Between the Lines : Of Contemporary Christian Fiction does not generally feature authors who write dystopian fantasy, but I made an exception in Christina Cattane’s case. She has three novels in her Christian series: Lost in the Land of the Midnight Sun (2019); Alone in the Land of the Midnight Sun (2021); Shaken in the Land of the Midnight Sun (to be released this summer.)
Christina is also the co-host of the Christian Indie Writers’ Podcast, mother of 4, grandmother of 2, pastor’s wife, and Bible Study teacher.
Growing up with her nose always in a book, Christina’s head was full of stories. The story of Jesus fascinated her most of all, and she started talking to him in her bed at night at a very early age. A lifelong love of learning drove her to dig into her Bible to know him better. Now, He inspires the stories she writes.
With narratives constantly running through her mind, she always said, “If I ever wrote them down, I could write a book—or a hundred.” She is on her way to that goal.
Christina’s love of Alaska (where she grew up), the mountains (that stood guard over her hometown), Malamutes (the Alaska state dog), and Jesus (her Lord and Savior) comes through in her writing.
Christina currently lives in the tropics of Flint, Michigan with her husband and youngest child. You can connect with her at her website: https://christinacattane.com/
