Between the Lines With Donna and Heidi

Can you believe this month started the second season of Between the Lines? Season One launched with contemporary author Caroline Miller on October 3, 2022. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I could meet the challenges of having a regular podcast. Thankfully, I’ve had friends guide me and the Holy Spirit stepping in when technology taxed my brain. And of course, all the wonderful authors who signed up (and continue to do so) to be interviewed.

My heart for this podcast is that authors are able to get a little more noise for their books, share their writing journeys, and connect with new readers. Take it from someone who has lived this gig for the last five years—marketing is hard! And even harder is building up a fan-base. So, I’m thrilled to be able to offer this podcast even if it helps only a little bit.

What a pleasure it was this past month to interview two more people—Dr. Donna Lane and Heidi Gray McGill. It isn’t often I run across a Christian fiction author with a background as diverse as Dr. Donna Lane’s. Both she and her husband are Christian counselors who worked in Haiti to lead teams of professionals to conduct training in trauma care as well as equipping the Haitians to provide services for their own people. They also led teams to assist with trauma in Newton, Connecticut in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook school shootings in 2012. No wonder Dr. Lane needs to recharge by writing fiction!

Heidi Gray McGill is one of my favorite people. I interviewed her previously for the release of her book Dial P for Perfect, and this month, we discussed her first Suamalie Island Series novella, A Deeper Love. Not only is it a fun romance, but if you’ve ever had a desire to learn about scuba diving, here is your chance! I love that Heidi’s husband inspired this book—an extremely experienced diver himself.

Self-professed Curvy-Girl Heidi Gray McGill is an Amazon Best Selling author for both historical fiction and young adult romance. She writes stories that connect with readers in a real way, such as Dial P for Perfect starring a curvy-girl heroine who struggles to love herself the way God made her. She began her writing journey during Covid, and since then has completed several novels and novellas.

This is Heidi’s second visit with me, and I’m excited for you to hear about her newest project, the Suamalie Island novella A Deeper Love. Join us to learn how her husband’s passion became an inspiration for this contemporary romance.
