Between the Lines with Tema and E.V.

It’s been another exciting month in the podcasting world. At least for me. I absolutely enjoy meeting new-to-me authors and learning about their writing journeys, the inspiration for their novels, and how the Lord is using them in the lives of His children.

When I first started this podcast, I thought sticking to contemporary authors would be best because there isn’t a lot available in the podcasting world for them. I’ve since discovered this is the case for all genres of Christian fiction. So, I decided to include anyone who writes inspirational books to be a part of this podcast, and it’s been a blessing. This month, I’ve even included a not-yet-published author, because I believe that’s going to change real quick. As you’ll read below, her book placed in the Foundation Award at the 2023 Blue Ridge Christian Writer’s Conference. I was fortunate to be present when she received her award.

If you are a Christian author (or you know one), I would love to interview you for Between the Lines. Just fill out this form, and I will get back to you soon.

Tema Banner is the first author I’ve interviewed who hasn’t yet been published, although I’m sure it won’t be long. Her novel, Book One of her series Daughters of the King, is titled The Weaver’s Dream. It took second place in the 2023 Blue Ridge Christian Writer’s Conference Foundation Award for pre-published authors.

It was a thrill for me to talk to Tema about this book and what she has planned for other novels in this series. You can connect with Tema on her website and learn more about her and future projects.

Daughters of the King: Book One titled The Weaver’s Dream

Tirzah finally has everything she wants: a family and the respect of her village. But tragedy strikes with the death of her husband. Tirzah finds herself separated from her son and sold into slavery. When her efforts at escape fail, she questions whether God cares for her or has turned His back.

Darien has one goal: to find those responsible for the murder of his wife and children. When his path crosses that of a Hebrew slave, he wants to ignore her plight; but a dream from an unknown God changes his mind. Tirzah’s presence in his home brings evil powers and family dissension to the boiling point.

It was a pleasure to meet with E.V. Sparrow, historical fiction author. She writes inspirational stories (her tagline is Encounter God’s Unexpected Presence) and has recently signed a three-book contract with Celebrate Lit Publishing. Connect with her on her website and be sure to sign up for her newsletter.

Her novella, Muldoon’s Minnesota Darling is available on Amazon.

A heartsore widower with hidden fears and little faith…
The naïve daughter of a farmer guarding a repulsive secret…
A township unaware of the hidden menace amongst them…

New York City, 1867
Heartbroken from losing his family and his farm, Mick Muldoon is hopeful as he emigrates to America with his siblings. All he finds is despair and no work. Were America’s rumored promises of plenty all lies? Would God ever hear and answer his prayers?
Minnesota, 1867
Seventeen-year-old Shauna McGann is determined to marry Mick Muldoon despite her mother’s objections. His past and his limp might repulse others, but not her. What burdens Shauna is her terrible secret—a secret she promised her friends she would keep. Now Shauna needs help and protection. Could she trust Mick, or will she lose everything by telling him?

Will Mick finally be free of loss and find success in America? Will Shauna overcome her fears and finally feel safe?

In this Muldoon’s Misfortunes prelude novella, author E.V. Sparrow creates a provoking tale of flickering faith and enduring hope through an emigrant’s efforts to adapt, and a young woman’s unprejudiced love.
