Welcome to Day 3 All That Glitters Cookie party!
On Release Day, I introduced you to Julia Metcalf. Yesterday, you met her son, Max. Today, I’d like you to meet Marty Cantrell, Julia’s secret (or not so secret) crush. If you read Surrendered Book 1, you’ll remember Marty as Jake’s goofy sidekick. There’s more to the man than you might think.
Marty is a C.P.A., although he looks more like a surfer dude than a buttoned-down businessman. Sometimes, looks can be deceiving. He’s got a thing for spouting off aphorisms, which he inherited from his grandpa, and volunteering his time to the needy. Marty covers up his own hurtful past with wit and conviviality. He’s great with Julia’s son Max but is tired of being seen as just a friend to Julia. Although he’s attracted to her, he’s not ready to take a chance until he’s sure she’s over her ex.
Marty’s favorite cookie is Chewy Molasses Ginger. He loves the understated sweetness of molasses with the added spice of ginger. Kind of reminds him of Julia.
Like Christmas ornaments, good-looking men are all glitter and no substance. Right?
Julia Metcalf tries to be content with her life in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, despite secretly yearning for more. Raising her son as a single mom might be tough sometimes, but with friends, family, and a job she enjoys, Julia has a rich life. Risking her heart again—not a good idea. Especially with a guy like Marty.
The guy is too handsome and funny for his—or her—own good.
But when Julia’s ex-husband disappears and puts her and her son in danger, Marty steps in to help.
Sometimes what glitters truly is gold.

Thank you, hope you enjoy!
I like Marty. It’s obvious through his actions and dialogue that he cares. Show people you care about them and you can win them over. He’s doing it right. Come on Julia, pick up on the cues.
