I recently went on a hunt for a small Christmas wreath and was shocked at how expensive they were. It’s just a bunch of “plastic” greenery, a sprig here and there of fake pine, and a few red berries. Again, like with the pallet trees I posted on Tuesday, I figured the release of my upcoming Christmas novella, Tangles and Tinsel (only four days left), was a perfect opportunity for me to launch into making my own wreath.

I know this will shock y’all, but I got all my supplies at Hobby Lobby. Gasp! Everything, except the vine-twisted base, was 50% off. You see why I love that store? The base was only around $5.00, so I figured it would cost me more in time and gas to come back the following week for that one item. Well, really two items, because I purchased enough for two wreaths. Although, I haven’t made the second wreath yet. I did, however, add a ribbon to the bottom of my wreath, which I decided on after completing my video. I’ve included a picture of the finished wreath below.
What you’ll need for the wreath I made:
I already had the floral wire, but here is the link in case you need it. I did not need to use the hot glue gun, which is a bonus since the wire is more sturdy.
The 6” mini vines I used are on sale every other week. Even full price, they’re not that expensive, and they’re worth it.
There are so many choices in floral picks (which is what I used for my wreath) that I don’t want to limit you to what I purchased. Take the time to meander down the floral aisles, and when you see what you like, snag it. Depending on how varied you want the greenery, you might choose three or four different pieces. The ones I picked had four “species” (for a lack of a better term) so I got the most bang for my buck.
The same is true for Christmas ribbon. I had 3” wired ribbon that worked great for what I wanted. It was a matter of creating the bow from it (which is much easier than you’d think.) Here is a YouTube link that gives great directions for five different types of DIY bows.
Happy Crafting!

Oh how I love this! I have decorated wreaths before using a glue gun but this is better, I think (obviously depending on the decor).

It definitely stays longer. It seems like the hot glue weakens over time.
This one I love. I made my own and I truly cherish it. And as you I love hobby lobby
