Happy Fall Y’All

My all-time favorite time of year to decorate is in the Autumn. I don’t mean Halloween decorations, I mean those that you can put up in September and leave all the way through Thanksgiving. There is something nostalgic about pumpkins and mums—timeless and cozy.

This year, we are in a new home (or new to us) in a new state. Both my husband and I were born and raised in California, so to make a move like this was exciting and a little challenging. There was so much to do in organizing our new place, that I almost let the season get away from me. Our front porch looked sad and bleak, and although I brought all my beautiful pots from California, they sat empty and forlorn. I’d about given up hope that any Fall planting would happen this year.

Then we popped into a Lowe’s one day while exploring a new town, and to my delight, they had all their perennials half off—and their small potted mums were only fifty cents. This was all the motivation I needed. Two of the lessons my mother-in-law taught me came into play that day: Don’t pass up buying something you really want, because you’ll never find it again; and don’t tell your husband how much you spent, but instead, how much you saved.

Because we still have almost another month before Thanksgiving, I wanted to give you some inspiration if you haven’t gotten on the Autumn band wagon yet. You’ll find lots of inspiration in this article 35 Ideas for Easy Thanksgiving Decorating by Midwest Living. Enjoy!
