If you read yesterday’s countdown post (and watched the video) you know I’m a Hobby Lobby fan. Whenever I walk into one, even when it’s packed with crazy holiday shoppers, a calmness washes over me. If God were to hang out in a retail store, it would be Hobby Lobby.
Last year, I was looking for a frame for my laundry room. Weird, I know. But there was a long, empty wall just begging to be filled. I have so many family pictures, I was becoming desperate for a new space to display them.
Of course, I decided to see if I could find something that would work at Hobby Lobby since frames were 50% off (which they are every other week). I came across a cute plank frame with a “laundry line” and clips to hold pictures. It felt flimsy, and I figured even half price, it wasn’t really worth what they were asking.
So, I decided to make my own. I had my husband (and videographer) video me while I went through the process. You might have seen it when I posted it to my newsletter in August of 2022. But in case you didn’t, I’ve included it in this post.
I made two of these frames, and they are sturdy and customized. I used my Cricut to cut out a scripture verse for each of them. Getting those curly little letters onto the frame was the hardest part. If I were to do another one, I’d probably glue old buttons across the bottom instead or find other embellishments. There are numerous ways to take any of these projects I’m sharing this week and make it your own.
Also, I used tongue-and-groove pine because we had some leftover from a home-improvement project. You could use planks from a pallet or other narrow pieces of wood. You might want to run the boards vertical (like in the Hobby Lobby frame I linked to above). Get creative!

Aww. Thanks! It’s really easy once you know how to do it–and my husband is always willing to help out, too.
I like to shop at Hobby Lobby too and gather ideas for things to make.

It’s so much fun! I also love that I can get a lot of decor with scripture on them.
I wish I was handy like you. You have great ideas.

Thank you, but it’s usually a matter of taking what someone else did and copying it (or customizing it) to some degree. You can do it.
