Today, I would like to welcome good friend and critique partner, Blossom Turner, to my blog. We met years ago at Mount Hermon’s Christian Writer’s Conference where we both attended a Head Start clinic early in our writing “careers.” Welcome Blossom! First off, can you share your most recent work in progress?
My most recent work in progress is an Inspirational Romance called Anna’s Secret and is written with a message of grace and love for all of us who have fallen short.
Recently widowed and lonely, Anna falls from grace, and to her horror, finds she’s pregnant… Allowing her world to believe her late husband is the father, she’s shocked when the handsome Dr. Carmichael arrives back on the scene demanding a DNA test. Anna has to face her new reality. Her reputation as a devout Christian is about to disappear like a leaf caught in a windstorm. Some choose to graciously forgive, while others choose condemnation. But an endearing love story unfolds as God cares to restore her soul, her family and her future.
I’m excited to see this in print, as I’ve already had a sneak peek as your critique partner. What three things about you would surprise your readers?
Three things that would not surprise as a romance author with a name like Blossom is that I love gardening, reading and romantic evenings bathed in the glow of a sunset. Conversely, the fact I have a wild side and love motorcycles, skydiving and anything that gets that adrenaline pumping, typically shocks.
What has been your most difficult writing obstacle, and how do you overcome it?
The most difficult obstacle to writing is carving out the time and honing the discipline when my flowers beckon just beyond my window pane. Gardening and writing go to war this time of year, and my garden all too often wins.
Lastly, what are your summer reading recommendations?
Well, Francine River’s new book The Masterpiece is out…and being a huge fan of most everything she writes, I have to recommend this book. I was caught up in the story within the first two pages and it never let go. However, Cynthia Ruchit’s A Fragile Hope, is written with a depth that leaves a lasting impression. This book exposed places in my heart that needed attention, and that’s ever so powerful.
Blossom Turner lives in British Columbia, Canada, with her husband of thirty-five years. She holds a degree in the hard knocks of life and writes from a depth of understanding. A business woman, personal trainer, and mother of two grown children, she is now pursuing her lifelong dream of writing full-time. A hopeless romantic at heart, she believes all story should give you, the reader, significant entertainment value. Though relatable realism and suffering seep between the layers, hope and happy endings always prevail. Her desire is to leave you with a yearning to live for Christ on a deeper level, or at the very least, create a hunger to seek for more.
Through her life experience, Blossom will never forget the heartache of betrayal and is an avid blogger bringing faith and hope to those who have suffered that heartbreak. However, life is meant to be enjoyed. Therefore, many of her blogs and her fiction writing will highlight the truth of Philippians 4:8 “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think (write) about such things.” NIV
