Novelist (and children’s book author) Kathy Boyd Fellure will be celebrating the release of book two in her On the Water’s Edge Tahoe Trilogy next month. Lake Cottage Book Haven is a continuation of Emily and Jack Conner’s story from her debut novel Language of the Lake. Her new novel, which takes place in 2008, is set in a Tahoe City, California bookstore struggling to stay in business. When Emily is stalked by a stranger, a mystery unfolds, spiraling the family’s quiet life into a succession of unforeseen trials, temptations and strain.
Fellure weaves a thread of second chances throughout each chapter whereby the reader walks alongside the characters facing both physical and spiritual fears. Questions arise—how much do we give to God and how much do we hold back in an attempt to deal with trying circumstances on our own? How much do we share with a spouse and how thin is the line of sharing with those outside the bonds of matrimony?
The Conner’s story also deals with judgmental attitudes, and it questions what it truly means to love someone in the worst of times when walking away is the most appealing option.
Fellure builds strength in her characters through baptism by fire. Language of the Lake readers will not be disappointed as this second book takes them on a deeper journey into the relationships between husband and wife, mother and daughters, and man, woman, and God.
Kathy’s readers have two opportunities to take part in her book launch:
Saturday, June 15th from 1 – 5 pm, rain or shine, the Lake launch will take place at Tahoe City Wine Walk. All six of Kathy’s books have been a part of this annual event.
Saturday, June 22 from 2 – 4 pm, you can join the local launch at Hein & Company Bookstore in Jackson, CA where Fellure’s Amador Fiction Writers’ Critique Group meets bi-weekly to work on manuscripts that birth into book babies.
From the Author
I love to write about everyday people who encounter unfair circumstances that challenge deeper personal and spiritual growth—those who survive the ripple effects that reach beyond the confines of control and manipulation and ultimately lead to joy on the other side of pain.
I am the second of eight daughter born to a teacher-father and a full-time working mother. I married a soldier, moved to England for three years, and was a very busy stay-at-home mum for my four children. I home-schooled my two youngest through their junior high and high school years, volunteered in my children’s classrooms, and was at a Little League ball field every spare moment.
I also worked for a small literary press, hosted a local TV show, am a free-lance photographer and mentor writers in the Amador Writers’ Group who aspire to be published authors. Currently I lead my church’s prayer ministry and work with the homeless outreach.
