It’s ironic that my son Christopher is a screenwriter and director, but the video he shot sharing this particular Christmas memory has bad lighting and no scene direction. I’m chuckling as I write this, but this mama is just grateful that he agreed to take part of release week for These Simple Gifts. The post title is The Elusive Gift, and it not only fits the story, but it fits Christopher. I can never quite keep track of him—and I don’t even try to understand how he thinks. If my kids didn’t look like me, I’d wonder if they were switched at birth. This is not a complaint, believe me. I see things in both my son and daughter that I greatly admire (such as their sweet hearts and creativity), but sometimes, it’s a real head-scratcher.
