If you read yesterday’s post, you’re expecting another fun fact that has to do with Demir Bentley, co-author (with his wife Carey) of Winning the Week: How to Plan a Successful Week, Every Week. First off, let me start by telling you that Bentley may be Demir’s pen name, but his “real” name is Gjokaj. Yeah, I’d find something easier to pronounce, too.
Demir Gjokaj is twin brother of Enver Gjokaj, actor. Our neighbors in Northern California (who I mentioned in yesterday’s post) fostered (and later adopted) the twins. Enver studied acting at Amador High School (in Sutter Creek, California) and went on to appear in such shows as Dollhouse, Resident Alien, Invasion, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Rookie, and NCIS: Hawai’i. I’ve seen him guest appear on so many well-known television shows, I’ve lost count.
I did, of course, meet both Demir and Enver when they were visiting their parents in our tiny little town of Volcano, just outside Jackson, California. In fact, Enver helped me out when my husband accused me of making up the term “copse” as in “copse of trees.” Enver defended my honor and my vocabulary when he sided with me in this battle of wits.
Funny story. Not long before Chris and I moved to Tennessee, we went by our neighbors’ home, and there was Enver (or who I thought was Enver.) I mentioned that we’d recently seen him on some show or other and appreciated his talent. He said, “Thank you, but I’m not Enver. I’m Demir.” I was embarrassed (of course) and apologized.
“Don’t apologize,” he said. “It happens all the time. In fact, I’ve actually signed autographs in his name a few times, because I didn’t want to disappoint his fans.”
When I say they’re identical, it’s no joke!
The photo I have with this blog post is not of Demir and Enver—they’re much better looking. You just have to click on the link on Enver’s name in the second paragraph to see for yourself.
I actually have one more fun fact linked to Demir’s book that I’ll share tomorrow.
