The Gift of Adventure

Welcome back to Release Week for These Simple Gifts. My sweet husband has always been an adventurer. Until we married, I’d never traveled outside the United States, hiked anywhere worth mentioning, or truly challenged myself physically. Over the last seventeen-plus years, he’s kept me on my toes. I had been running for only a couple of months when we started dating; he’d been running for years. After our first couple of dates, he casually mentioned that he signed us both up to run a half marathon in another few months. While training for that feat (because it seemed impossible to me), he challenged me to climb Half Dome in Yosemite National Park with him—in one day! It didn’t matter that I was terrified of heights. You can see where it all began for him in this video post.

What crazy (for you) adventures have you experienced or would like to experience? Might be time to dust off that ol’ bucket list.

  1. When I was in college, I was in ROTC. I propelled down the stadium wall. I am with you in being afraid of heights. Leaning back ward and walking off the edge of the stadium was extremely scary. I can say that I did it once. Once was enough for me. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you.
